The mind is an amazing thing! It’s crazy to think that your brain is simultaneously telling your lungs to breathe, your heart to beat, and your eyes to blink. With every physical control your brain sends you, you also are able to think about what you're going to wear tomorrow, at the exact same time!
Most people would agree that being bilingual is very impressive. Have you ever wondered if the personalities of someone who is fluent in more than one language match up, depending on the language in use? Well, according to Psychology Today, “many bilinguals report being different in each of their languages”. Which if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Different cultures have different customs and mannerisms. If you know someone who is bilingual, ask them about this the next time you speak.
Have you ever gotten a big slurpee from 7/11 and drank a little too much at once, and felt like you were being stabbed in the brain? I bet you've never thought about brain freeze in a scientific way, but brain freeze is the most common type of headache. Brain freeze is actually an inherited headache, if your parents have either brain freezes or migraines then you are more prone to getting them. The ladies are even more likely to suffer from these chilly headaches.
Can you keep a secret? Well, according to science, you can’t forever. Secrets cause heightened levels of anxiety. Elevated levels of anxiety can weaken your immune system, and mess up your sleep schedule. Keeping a secret is literally not good for you. You know what they say, the truth will set you free.
Going to the doctor can be stressful, you’re already not feeling great, and now you get to sit in a room of people who feel the same. After waiting for what feels like forever to be evaluated by your doctor, it’s always a punch in the gut to not be able to read your prescription note. People with very high IQs think quicker than the average person. Messy handwriting can be an indication of high IQ and quick thinking. Whether it's a bother or not, your doctors handwriting can be reassuring.
It’s truly amazing, the mind, it is capable of so much. Most people never realize how much they are capable of. You have the most amazingly complex piece of biology in your head working for you, anything is possible.
