The Future Self-Driving Car

Have you ever wondered how you would respond to a self-driving car as a pedestrian? Would you trust that the car wouldn’t hit you? The Jaguar Land Rover car company has found a solution to this problem by announcing their progress on their new self-driving car. This new technology projects light beams on the surface on the road in front of the car. Forty-one percent of pedestrians have said they have concerns and distrust when interacting with self-driving cars. Jaguar’s first instinct was to put eyes on the car which supposedly would make eye contact with pedestrians in order to acknowledge that the pedestrian knows the car sees them. When tested, the pedestrians did not seem to trust the car any more than before. The pedestrians also noted that the eyes were creepy and made them feel uncomfortable. Jaguars new tech seems to be far more effective. The same beams which shine on the ground will now expand as the car accelerates and collapse as the car brakes. These light beams also curve to the left or right depending on which direction the car is going to turn. This method allows pedestrians to predict the cars next move which makes the pedestrian feel safer. Jaguar has not said when they will officially have a car released but have only mentioned their progress with this new development.
