The Miamisburg Marching Band traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Bands of America Grand National Championships. The band performed their competition show “One Bad Apple.” The show is a rendition of Disney’s Snow White with original music by Andrew Markworth based off of Beethoven’s Symphony number 7. Senior Olivia McCray played the Evil Queen, with Senior Crystal Rooks

killing the Evil Queen in the end. Visual soloists also included Nick Bradley and Audrey Henry.
The Marching Band placed 41st out of 108 bands from all across the country. Even though the band didn’t advance to semi-finals, the band gained their second highest prelims score in over 20 years. They were also ranked 5th out 37 Ohio bands. Grand Nationals is the last event of the season. For many seniors, they’re done with marching until college, if they even decide to continue in college. Senior Jenna Schwabe said, “When we finished our last run at Lucas Oil, I was thinking about how proud I was of everyone and how much I’m going to miss this activity.”
I asked Miss Schwabe what impact marching band had on her life. Her response was, “Marching band taught me how to be a leader and that everyone has a purpose. No matter how big or small, everyone matters.”
Congratulations to The Miamisburg Marching Band on an amazing season!
