Upon walking into Bakery 151 on North First Street in Miamisburg, you are greeted with a sugary smell and the sight of dozens of pastries. The inviting atmosphere makes it easy to come right in and decide what you would like to try.
It’s easy to want to try everything, however; all of the items are good sizes and quite filling. The bakery specializes in French and Italian pastries. They also make cakes, cupcakes, bagels, tea and coffee.
The first item I tried was an Italian butter cookie. It was two sugary cookies with a thin layer of jam between them. The owner of the bakery said that this type of cookie was extremely popular where she grew up, even more so than chocolate chip cookies. The Italian butter cookie, though it was very sugary, was delicious.
Next, I tasted a different type of cookie. It was the strawberry leaf cookie seen in the photo below. It also tasted a bit sugary, but overall had a sweet strawberry flavor. Plus, as an added bonus, they looked very pretty.
The pumpkin cookies, also in the photo below, were very sugary. I didn’t personally love them because I prefer soft sugar cookies, but they were still tasty.

After sampling my fair share of cookies, I picked up a “pain au chocolat,” which is a flaky bread pastry with a layer of chocolate in the middle. It was recommended to me that I warm it up for twenty seconds in the microwave. I followed these directions and it turned out to be delicious. There was just the right amount of chocolate, and it was warm and soft. This was my favorite pastry overall.
Lastly, I ordered one of the bakery’s best treats: a cannoli. The cannoli are prepared when the customer orders them rather than in advance. The filling is sweet whipped ricotta cheese with chocolate chips in it. The filling is piped into a shell and then the shell is dusted with powdered sugar. It was tasty, just not my personal favorite.

Overall, the bakery had some delicious treats. Though some were a little pricey, it was worth the cost. Head to Bakery 151 next time you need a sweet treat!
